Associate Professor
University of Southern California
Hualin Zhang, is a PhD, an ABR certified medical physicist, and an associate professor of University of Southern California.
Dr. Zhang’s research interests are the spatially fractionated (GRID) radiation therapy for bulky tumors, MRI image guided low dose rate and high dose rate brachytherapy, intraoperative mesh brachytherapy, intraoperative balloon-based low energy X-ray source radiation therapy, and radiobiology modeling for all types of radiation therapy regimens. Dr. Zhang has also done a lot of research work on Monte Carlo simulation for external beam and brachytherapy dosimetry. Dr. Zhang’s early research interest was the physics of low energy ion-atom and ion-molecule collisions.
Dr. Zhang’s clinical focus is the implementation of advanced technologies, with emphasis on spatially fractionated radiation therapy for bulky tumors; MRI image guided HDR and LDR brachytherapy, intraoperative radiation therapy, and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT).
