Nilanjan Haldar, MD, is a Resident Physician in Radiation Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA, where he has been training since June 2022. Dr. Haldar earned his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, graduating in 2021, and completed his Transitional Year residency at Reading Tower Health. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Applied Mathematics from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA.
Dr. Haldar has been actively involved in research, focusing on radiation oncology, with projects ranging from analyzing coronary artery calcium burden in lung cancer patients to developing AI radiomics models for predicting cardiac toxicity. His work has been recognized with awards. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and presented at national conferences, including ASTRO and ACRO.
In addition to his clinical and research pursuits, Dr. Haldar is deeply committed to education and wellness. He is the founding resident of the Jefferson Radiation Oncology Club, where he has organized and moderated interest panels and developed an interactive brachytherapy curriculum. As Resident Wellness Chair, he initiated professionally mindfulness programs for residents. Dr. Haldar has also dedicated significant time to volunteering, including providing palliative care and wound care at Mother Teresa’s Home for the Dying Destitute in Kolkata, India, and serving underserved populations through organizations like JeffHOPE and Street Medicine at Hope Rescue.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Haldar enjoys many hobbies, including boxing, weightlifting, book clubs, writing, surfing, and traveling. He is also passionate about trying new activities, such as learning to play the guitar and rock climb.
Dr. Haldar is dedicated to advancing oncology care, and has a mission to improve patient outcomes and foster a supportive learning environment.
